An
"advertorial" is an effective way for a pharmaceutical
company to distribute important health information to
both consumers and health professionals. Advertorials
are usually one page in length (making them more likely
to be read) and can be targeted for consumer magazines
or national, regional or state journals for physicians,
nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals.
An advertorial differs
from an advertisement in that it is educational in nature
and the information is based on the clinical literature.
Consumers and health professionals are more likely to
read and trust this information since it is typically
done under the auspices of an educational grant and
will have the Consumer Health "Seal of Approval"
to ensure credibility.
